Pat Herbst offered a plenary talk titled Collaboration or change: Finding a sustainable stride. He offered the example of GeT: A Pencil as a way in which researchers can collaborate with practitioners by providing consultation and organization support while practitioners identify their goals and mechanisms to work on improving their practice. The presentation was offered at the closing of the MI-AMTE Conversations Among Colleagues Conference in Kalamazoo, Michigan. MI-AMTE is an affiliate of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators and has the goal to promote all aspects of quality mathematics teacher education in Michigan.
